An Affectionate Tribute

Having been born and raised in Southeastern USA, I grew up on a steady diet of 'The Andy Griffith Show.' Naturally I became a fan of 'Matlock' during its original run in the 1980s-90s. In 2006 when I stepped out on faith to quit my job in an effort to improve my health, I became reacquainted with the 'Matlock' series watching it on WGN, Hallmark and WAXN (local station out of Kannapolis, NC) channels. This time I noticed the lady who played the part of Ben Matlock's savvy assistant, Michelle Thomas. Something about her made me want to do something that I hadn't done in several years: start writing again.

All of the people who have inspired my writing have to have a 'je nes sais quoi' to draw me in and get my creative juices flowing. I had to know more about Nancy Stafford. Surely there was more to her than just a pretty face and acting talent. Late one night when I was unable to sleep from the pain of my illness, I found myself on line looking up the cast of Matlock, including Ms. Stafford. I found that not only had she married a pastor, but she was also the author of two Christian devotionals. I quickly ordered both books and read them cover to cover. Mere words can't describe the treasure that I gleaned from her words. I found so much of myself between the pages of her books. More importantly I found something that I had lost ages ago, my desire to live again.

My only hope now is to meet this wonderful lady face to face one day to thank her for touching my life in a way that I thought that no one else could. True, there is a lot more to this than what you're reading here, but it is personal and I wish it to remain that way. If I have to sum it up in a few words, I would have to say that God always gives you exactly what you need when you need it. He always provides. He always delivers. All you have to do is ask. Blessings can even be in the form of 'reruns' as it was in my case.

This website is my way of paying homage to a beautiful lady who just happens to be a little bit more than just my favorite actress. I 'rediscovered' her while trying to recoup from one illness and was drawn even closer to her as I fought another that would change my life forever.
